Mi-Kis are different . . .
Even as a toddler, I played with the Invisible Dog Gag Leash, a rigid leash with an empty harness, pretending it was an invisible dog. I've rescued dogs my whole life and loved them all, but my favorite was a 60-pound Samoyed mix I rescued in Chicago when he was a year old. His calm personality led me to name him "James", after James Taylor the soothing musician. James lived to be 14 years old, and in his later years, he had hip problems, requiring me to carry him in and out of the house and car.
Rescuing dogs taught me a lot about training, pack mentality, and the psychology of dogs. In college, my favorite class was ethology, the study of pack animals (including humans). Pack animals have unique brain structures that allow them to cooperate and defend each other within the pack, features we share with dogs. I studied Cesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer, watching all his programs and reading his books. He provides incredible insights into training and living with dogs. Human behaviors are always to blame and never the dog's!
Interested to train a puppy from the start and find a smaller dog breed for my later years, I began research. Small dogs often have behavior and health problems due to inbreeding. Eventually, I discovered a rare new breed in the Mi-Ki, known for its therapeutic qualities. Reading testimonial from breeders, I was drawn to the mythic stories of their temperament and personality. I put my name on a waitlist for a Mi-Ki, particularly a smooth-faced variety, which resembles a long-haired Chihuahua with Mary Parker’s Royal-T Mi-Kis in Colorado and fell in love with both a red sable "smoothie" and a chocolate long-haired Mi-Ki. My daughter and I flew to Colorado to pick up our first pair.
Mary assured me that getting two Mi-Kis was a great idea, and they were wonderful together. At Mary's, my teenage daughter fell in love with a little girl Mi-Ki, and within a few months, we decided to add to our pack. On my birthday, we brought home another smoothie, Ruby.
When our dogs were about 6 to 9 months old, I naturally pursued the neutering process. I realized these dogs were exceptional and needed to be shared with the world. Everyone who met my dogs marveled at their joy, responsiveness, and unique expressions. I called Mary to discuss their COIs, DNA profiles and conformation for the possibility of breeding them. With my science, business, and marketing background, Mary encouraged me to help diversify the Mi-Ki gene pool and bring more of this exceptional breed into loving homes.
After conducting extensive research, and working with local vets, the American Mi-Ki Registry, the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, BioLabs, and mentor breeders I began the most rewarding job of my expansive career-- a Mi-Ki breeder.
I'm still learning every day and these little souls are worth the effort. Mi-Kis are a miracle for anyone who has met them. I love all dogs, but honestly, Mi-Kis steal the show.
As a small breeder, all our breeding dogs are pets first, receiving meticulous care, the best of the best in every way, and living in our home space on the daily. Our puppies are mental marvels, thanks to careful training programs, an emotionally stable pack, and handpicked pairings. We produce a few litters each year and match them with the right homes. The genetics, conformation, and pedigrees of our dogs are supreme. You can learn more about our pack on the "Our Pack" page.

My Mi-Ki from Metro is my little bud who personifies joy. He's a healthy robust dude who goes with me everywhere. I visited him from the time he was born and he was just the one I didn't want to live without.
